ACM Essay Competition

Each year a competition, open to school students in the Darling Downs region, is conducted by Australians for Constitutional Monarchy - Toowoomba Branch. Prizes include $500 for the winner of the Senior section, and $250 for the Junior section. Students may be recognised in other ways.

2014 Division 1 winner (15 - 18 years)
“Why do governments and organisations have constitutions? Explain, with examples, their functions in areas such as sport, community organisations and government.”

First prize: Riley de Jong (Toowoomba Grammar School)

Second prize (shared):
Phyllida Hayes (Toowoomba SHS, Mount Lofty Campus) and
Mitchell Oddy (Centenary Heights SHS)

2013 Division 2 winner (11 - 14 years)
“How is Prince Harry developing his career and interests? What leadership roles would you suggest for him if he came to live in Australia.”

First prize: Ellie de Jong (The Glennie School)
Highly commended: Laura de Jong (Mater Dei Primary School)

Second prize: Ethnee Furness (Christian Outreach College)
